This worksheet is designed to be a starting point for entrepreneurs to address their feelings of loneliness, seek support, and share their experiences. It's recommended that they review and revisit this worksheet periodically to track their progress and re-evaluate their needs.
Section 1: Self-Reflection
- Understanding Your Situation
- What’s your dream outcome for the company financially? What are you shooting for?
- Describe a time when you felt most isolated or alone in your entrepreneurial journey.
- How did this feeling impact your motivation, decision-making, and well-being?
- Where are you now financially - and what’s the gap between your dream outcome and where you are?
- Feedback from Friends and Family
- List the common advice or feedback you receive from friends and family.
- Describe a situation where you felt your friends and family was truly supportive. Conversely, describe a situation where you felt they couldn't relate.
- Feedback from Your Team
- Reflect on the relationship with your team. Do you feel they understand your pressures and stresses?
- Describe a situation where you felt your team was truly supportive. Conversely, describe a situation where you felt they couldn't relate.
Section 2: Seeking Mentorship
- Current Mentorship Status
- Do you currently have a mentor or are part of a mastermind group? If yes, describe your relationship.
- If no, list down potential mentors or groups you might consider reaching out to.
- Go over that list and confirm that each mentor has deep experience: founded multiple companies, grown multiple companies, sold multiple companies. Mentors who have only taught but have done it only once might be a fluke. Mentors who have never done it might be all talk.
- Expectations from a Mentor
- What are you hoping to gain from a mentorship relationship?
- List down 3 key challenges you face that you believe a mentor could help you navigate.
- What’s a Mentor Worth?
- You calculated your “gap” above. If a mentor solved your challenges, how much closer would you be to success?
- Action Steps
- Set a deadline for when you will reach out to potential mentors or groups.
- Draft a message or email you could send to potential mentors, introducing yourself and expressing your desire for mentorship.
Section 3: Sharing Your Experience
- Self-Reflection on Journey
- List down three significant highs and lows of your entrepreneurial journey.
- How did these experiences shape your journey?
- Paving the Way
- How can you share your experiences to benefit future entrepreneurs?
- Consider platforms or methods (e.g., blogs, podcasts, workshops) that you might use to share your story.
- Action Steps
- Set a deadline for when you will share your first experience/story.
- Outline the main points or narrative of the story you want to share.
Section 4: Building Community
- Engaging with Fellow Entrepreneurs
- List down any entrepreneurial communities or groups you're currently a part of.
- Reflect on your engagement level with these communities. How can you be more active?
- Giving Back
- Think of ways you can support fellow entrepreneurs, whether through mentorship, resources, or advice.
- Plan an initiative or event where you can provide value to your entrepreneurial community.
